That is perhaps the most damage I’ve ever seen to the front of a Smart. I’ll just leave this here.

If I didn’t know that image was from a crash test on Fifth Gear, I’d believe that caption.
Side note, the Smart ForTwo is about the same size as an EZ-Go Utility golf cart, they’re tiny.

Remarkably tough little cars.

That was a 70mph crash test.

The pic in the OP is from the infamous (okay fine, probably not infamous) 70mph smart car concrete barrier crash from Fifth Gear. :)

My smart is actually a few inches shorter than my childhood offroad go-kart. :D

I did a couple of 600 km (roughly 370 miles) trips in a Smart - mostly motorway.
The first time I looked over my shoulder to the back of the car I had the distinct impression of being at the wheel of a phone booth!
This was when they were an absolute novelty, just a couple of months after their introduction to the press. The faces of the truckies when I (sometimes...) passed them were priceless.

They’re still a novelty here in America. Four years later (8 years since its American introduction) and people still drop their mouth at the sight of my car. :)
